To Sammyb's post I am curious what he did during the lifter re-furnbishment that destroyed the lifters if I understand correctly. I have my engine top apart now and had a bad lifter tic prior to disassembly. The engine is badly contaminated with oil coke so I was thinking I might disassemble the front and then remove the cams and clean the lifters following the procedure Ash wrote up. Of course I will mic everything to the factory specs in the process but I want to reuse as many parts as possible. So, what went wrong with the lifter refurbishment if you don't mind me asking?
